The wedding was beautiful, as all weddings are, but this one was truly, stunningly beautiful. And I’m glad that I went with accessorising my wedding outfit, because details were the name of the game. The venue was decorated with flowers everywhere: trailing down from pillars, wrapped around handrails and on every table.
Ahead of the wedding I started getting a bit worried about the weather, specifically what temperature it would be. I decided that I needed some kind of wrap or shawl to keep me warm. I found this shawl in Zara and then spent time in the Aladdin’s cave that is Antik Gammalt och Nytt in the city. That place is just amazing and has every piece of jewellery you can imagine. And I was able to find earrings to match the shawl (and my diary, incidentally).
The next step was something that I have been meaning to do for a long time: millinery! The poor boys were subjected to half an hour in NK’s fabric department, while I tried to match fabrics as best as I could. In the end I found some satiny, slightly stretchy material that was just perfect. I bought a couple of metres as I had also decided to make a clutch to go with my outfit.
The clutch was actually upcycled: a small plastic pouch that I’d got with a nappy changing bag. I covered it in the fabric, finished off with braiding and then made some rosettes from leftover strips of the fabric.
I just wish that I had had the forethought to ask Husband to take a couple of photos of the outfit on the day but, of course, we ended up rushing to get ourselves and the boys ready for the wedding. Luckily though I have more cousins, and one of them is kindly getting married next year. I’d better start planing again now.
